¿What is a carbón footprint?
A carbon footprint is an indicator of the amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) generated and emitted by a certain activity. It is measured in tons of carbon dioxide (t CO2 e).
¿Why is CO2 a Greenhouse Gas?
CO2 is a greenhouse gas because it stores the heat that is radiated by Earth. For this reason, it is considered the main culprit in accelerating global warming. This gas is naturally produced by our planet, but humans also generate it in large quantities. Some human activities that increase the CO2 in our atmosphere include the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.
¿Why is it important to measure an events carbon footprint?
All human activities have an environmental impact. Taking into account the carbon footprint of the Colombia Birdfair is very important in order to minimize the environmental impact of the fair.
