Luis is a Colombian ornithologist and birder with more than 40 years of experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Ecology from New Mexico State University, and has worked in a wide range of ecological settings, from the mangroves and mudflats of the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Colombia to the Chihuahuan desert of North America, including tropical rainforests, inter-Andean valleys, cloud forests, and páramos. Dr. Naranjo was a Professor and researcher at the Valle University in Cali, Colombia for 17 years, where he managed numerous projects. He currently works as Conservation Director for WWF Colombia. In this position, he oversees the design and implementation of conservation projects dealing with forest, freshwater, and marine ecosystems and species.
